I have this GAF 2388 dual 8mm projector. I was cleaning the thing and a rubber washer that was on the roller in contact with the take-up reel shattered into pieces when I touched it. I am searching for a replacement for it. If any of you know where I might be able to buy the same part or a facsimile for the part I'd appreciate the info. Here are the pics of the roller it broke off of:

Hi Gabe,

The thing to do is to gather as many pieces of the old washer as you can and get a good set of dimensions for it.

With a little luck maybe you can find a direct replacement on a website like McMaster Carr:

You never know: manufacturers don't design and fabricate every last piece of a machine (it wastes design time and manufacturing capacity, it creates paperwork, it's not cost or quality effective), so they often go to catalogs and buy something standard.

Gabe...What ever material GAF used for that roller it is the first thing to deteriorate on these projectors. Depending on the thickness I've use a couple DIY solutions. I have wrapped and clued wide rubber bands around the end of the pulley that has worked. You could try rubber tubing also. if it's too thick it will touch the take-up gear when it's not suppose to and if it's not thick enough it won't touch at all. This worked on one of my GAFs:

I'll try the website and see if I can find a nylon spacer at my local hardware store. Thanks!
