Phil at CHC is happy to put forward a super 8 trailer reel, with an upfront deposit paid in a decentish number to get the Ball rolling.

Hopefully people will prepay £25 right away once its sorted out, with CHC on visa or debit card etc to get it off the ground, a real little 8mm forum happening.

Hoping to sort a recent scope 2 reel or a great Bond classic`s 2 or 3 trailer reel. Dr No, Goldfinger, and Man with the Golden Gun.

As we all know the upfront costs now are very high so a deposit commitment is a great way to take a decent release forward.

These will be on kodak polyester I believe.

Best Mark.

I think a prepay idea like this to get stuff off the ground could be a good way to source things in the hobby.

If we could get 20-30 prepayers in off this forum initially and the other film forums to try to get to the 30 odd I think it could be a goer.

The upfront negative costs etc make it hard for either of the two providers to risk it. Like this could be a goer.

Best Mark.

So if possitive and in, please say you are in and see if we can do it.

It will be interesting just to see if in theory, there are 30 people wanting the same titles nowadays and prepared to pay the money that these cost now very unfortunately.

Give it a possitive chance Andrew.

I think one as good as this could get things going nicely. I`m sure anywhere from 10 + could get a release on the way but the more the better.

Also who cares what the title is, lets get £25 in anyway, what is that these days. Lets get soemthing done.

Anyone could sell it on even if they wanted, on ebay for at the very least what it costs them.

Best Mark.

No you're right Mark, I certainly don't want to be the one who pours thunder on this excellent idea!

I was just going off what I see here and elsewhere on the apparent amount of ACTIVE collectors now, that's all.

I hope it's a winner though Mark, great idea! [Smile]

I'd certainly be willing to take part but the key thing would be finding "something good all would like" because I don't think many people will buy a trailer they don't want to keep. I think when such initiatives were previously suggested, the maximum number of people on this forum who opted to buy a specific title was about eight at the most - which was disappointing considering the number of members, but by all means give it a try. We can also spread the word to any collector associates we have not on forums. I'll certainly buy one - irrespective of the title - specifically to use as a Blackpool Dinner raffle prize!

I think a recent release, if a 35mm trailer could be found, would add to the novelty value and perhaps one of us could come up with an attractive design for a box label. If we could make it suitably "collectable" as film-related memorabilia, we might even be able to sell a few to people who are not (yet) film collectors!

I can't help but think that The Hateful Eight would be ideal, especially as there were so many column inches about it being shown in 70mm.

And it being in SuperPanavision 70 a full frame transfer could almost be done with Super 8 giving 2.66:1. It might be a bit tricky getting a lab to do that though as it is not a normal set up. Lost heads and lost edges would threaten.

As I mentioned in another thread, I also think 'The Hateful Eight' would be perfect, partly because it's a good trailer (if it's the same as the one used in the UK) but also because of the 70mm release and because a Tarantino trailer might have above-average appeal. If someone could track down a 35mm scope trailer in the USA, I'd anticipate it being 2.35:1 as I'd have thought the 2.76:1 would be considered more trouble than it would be worth in relation to trailer presentation.

Great, starting to get some possitive numbers and good thoughts etc.

I think it would be so good for us all to chip in, and it almost be an 8mm forum project/trailer/s.

I`m happy putting my £25 odd in for anything, recent, decent, and scope wise. I`ll start scaning about.

Who ever says " IN " you can`t loose really as anything we did would have real novelty and rarity value and could resell easily anyway.

A double scope trailer release would be superb, or even a single one.

So whos in, you can`t loose and it would be great.

Best Mark. Thanks all who are IN.

I make that 12 responses (including two copies for me) that can be considered a definite yes for 'The hateful Eight', plus one or two less conclusive ones. That could be a record here. I can't imagine Classic/The Reel Image not wanting top proceed if there's such a guarantee of sales, but no harm in seeking more orders. But the most difficult part may be to find a 35mm print, as there will be very few compared to the old days!

There are a few more " In`s " than we see on here.

Only 20 comes to £500 easly enough to get the ball rolling, but obviously the more the better.

I think its a great start, and lets see what this week brings.

Best Mark.
