What do you do when your projector takes a bulb that is now off the market?

I wonder if this kind of thing could work? I am not sure if he make DCH replacement kits but worth asking maybe. If the bulbs are unavailable it may be one route...

I converted my B&H projectors to use a halogen equivalent bulb. It wasn't difficult. The DCH is 120V 150W... equivalent halogen is an ESD.

What if one is not electrically/mechanically inclined? Matt, thanks for the link. Janice, what aren't you capable of doing. My dear, you are a remarkable young lady. You're such a maven when it comes to this hobby. I fear I could screw it up and ruin the projector and then it's toyt opfal, as they say in yiddish.

It's not that I'm that mechanically inclined...I'm just fearless. In my case most things are broken anyway...so I can't do too much damage. However in your case...I understand not wanting to break something that isn't broken. So maybe the adapter that Matthew suggested would be a more suitable alternative. George Tveden makes and sells those adapters. He's now selling LED modules.

It's becoming quite difficult to keep our older projectors going as the price of obsolete lamps goes through the roof. And as old stock, who knows if they will have a long life even if you succumb to the inordinate prices.

I know what you mean Brad about doing some of these conversions,lately I have become a bit more confident to look further into why things don't work.Undoing more screws to uncover more of the workings etc.Take a pic if you think you may not remember how it goes back together.
Electrical is a different story and so far I have not ventured too far

I have a couple of projectors that have this lamp,and for now I have spares.But one day I may have to do a conversion too!
