I am looking for complete episodes of "Bonanza", Super 8 or 16 mm. Also looking for any Norwegian films that might be out there (not English films with Norwegian subs, but actual Norwegian films):

i don't mean to be flip Chris, but surely Norway would have it's
own 16mm libraries, like many other countries and it's titles
either junked or in the hands of private collectors in Norway, when
the video revolution took hold.I would think your best bet would be an ad in a mag or newspaper for the Norwegian films.

Share with Hugh' comment, I don't see any problem to have 16mm film in your own language. Even in my country Indonesia, a developing from any size, I can get 16mm Indonesian films quite easily.

The libraries rented so many films in 1970-1980s and due to regulation saying 35mm dedicated for Cinema and 16mm for libraries making to get 16mm is not a problem.

But if we are talking super 8mm in Indonesian that would be a big challenge.

Thanks for your comment, Hugh, it actually gives me the opportunity to tell you what I know of the subject so far [Smile]

Both 8 and 16 mm were quite common during the 50s-80s (Super 8 from the 70s-80s) in a lot of libraries here, but usually only the bigger ones had actual storage of them. Back then, if you lived in the outskirts, like me, you'd contact your local library who ordered the films in from the bigger storages in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim.

I have sent some mails around, but so far, I haven't found anything. The library in Bergen still has 16mm rental, but since it's so far away from me, I haven't been able to have a look at it. I will be investigating further the next time I'm up there.

As for educationals etc, it seems like alot of the schools destroyed their films during the 80s/90s video purge, but there are still some schools with stocks on 16mm in the attics and such. Also here: lots of mails, no replies.

I have had ads in some of the papers and online sites in Norway, but I've only found a couple of leads, and most of it is old Regular and Super 8 shorts in B/W that came with the projectors people bought to watch their home movies.

FYI Christian...I have some 8mm footage my family took in 1972 of the production crew shooting an episode of Bonanza. It includes shots of Michael Landon and David Canary.
