A wonderful condensation of the feature of the same name, Universal 8 wisely included very little footage from the earlier 200 foot extract, CIRCUS SLICKER. This focuses mostly on the ending of the film where Fields attends the wedding reception of his daughter. All the funny lines are there, and are as funny as ever. The ping pong game is there, too.
Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, and Mortimer Snerd are also along for the ride, with just enough footage to have the storyline make sense.
My copy is bright and clear with great sound, but as usual with the U8 400 footers, the source material was from 16mm (not 35mm as Castle used), so it is a bit contrasty, but not enough to mar enjoyment.
