Hi all,

As part of my responsibility in the office, I have to look after my fellow citizens, especially who are working in the grass roots level, such as "caregivers".

So I am planning to form an organization/association for them. In Indonesian language the name will be "Asosiasi Caregiver Indonesia" or it is abbreviated as ACI.

In English it can be "Association of Indonesian Caregivers" or "Indonesian Caregivers Association".

However, I am trying to match the Indonesian abbreviation with the English one, so I am thinking to form the English name as "Association of Caregivers from Indonesia", hence the abbreviation is still ACI.

Of course the meaning will be slightly different with "Association of Indonesian Caregivers". But my question does "Association of Caregivers from Indonesia" make a sense to you as native English speakers? or is it grammatically wrong?

Now since Canada is a bilingual country and French is also official language, therefore, can I say it to become "L'Association de Caregiver de l'Indonesie" in French? so it will also be abbreviated as ACI?

ps: caregivers = domestic helpers

pss: Caregiver is an English word, but I am not changing it both in Indonesian term and French, because it already becomes a common understanding for both speakers.

thanks a bunch for your help.

Hi Winbert
In my view "Association of Caregivers Indonesia" would be fine.

Hi Winbert,

I was a caregiver a few years ago -- I may be returning to the field in the coming year. To me, your acronym is a good one and reading it sound fine in English and in French without any issues. Usually, the word Association is at the end but, in this case, if it were used that way, you would have the CIA...which is already taken!

Hello Winbert,

Must the initials be ACI, or can it be reversed to ICA?

Indonesian - (Indonesia Caregiver Asosiasi)
English – (Indonesia Caregiver Association)
French – (Indonésie Careviger Association)

Just a thought, it worked for Oprah (Harpo) Productions. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Regards,

Jon
