  • A 1966 French newsreel. As expected, different subjects among them the visit of the Tunisian president to Belgium (there ist a footage of prince Albert, the brother of the King of that time ; prince Albert is the father of King Philippe and they look very similar, when young, which is no longer the case, so it's nice to see that on the screen) or full song of a still famous singer (Adamo).

      • The night of the Christmas Eve, a 1941 French seasonal film : L'assassinat du Père Noël" (The Assassination Of Santa Claus). Interesting to see that the Christmas decoration were set a that time on the 24th December and not more than one month before like now. One of the main actors (Robert Le Vigan) had troubles at the end of the war for his antisemitic positions during the dark years and escaped to Argentina where he died in poverty (although he could have come back to France but refused).

        • We did the usual Christmas screening (The Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas), but after 20 years, it's become a tradition.

          • Un soir de réveillon (translation would be more or less : New Year's Eve Dinner), a 1933 French film with Henri Garat, Meg Lemonnier, Arletty and Dranem, four famous actors at that time (Dranem was actually more a singer than an actor ; Meg Lemonnier was British, born in London). Like many early French talkies, there are several songs.

            • Always have a family film show Christmas night, this time fired up the old Elf ( the quietest of them all) the print was The Outsider ( aka The Guinea Pig) b/W 1948 . Richard Attenborough (plays a 14year old although he was 25 years old)from a working class background wins a scholarship to a Public School. The film follows his progress through this process which was quite controversial at the time. Great print , sharp and booming sound track. Audience verdict 10 out of 10.Just love old b/W prints they have so much atmosphere !
I wish all members a Great and Happy 2021, keep projecting, keep collecting and above all keep safe.

                      • Watched They Call Me Bruce a 1982 movie full of silly one-liners and stereotypical characters. I only have reels two and three, but substitute my DVD copy to watch what would be on reel one. R.I.P. Johnny Yune.

                              • A 1985 Canadian-French film : Hold up, with Jean-Paul Belmondo. The action is set in Montréal but several (known) actors are French and don't speak like people from Quebec, which is not very logic but it's otherwise a good film. There has been an American version (with other actors) : Quick Change in 1990.
