Possibly as Oliver pointed out, most of the advertising for the digest is within the film collecting community by way of forums and publications and there are collectors outside of that so they may not know where to get a new copy.

A lot of money to spend on a print let alone a scratched and splicey one, Mark

I can imagine many people searching for super 8 films on Ebay don't have the slightest idea that the film is available as a new print. Prints of The Empire Strikes Back are sold for more than 1K USD and you can get a brand new print from The Reel Image for a lower price. Many others in this hobby never get into a forum which certainly is a pity.

Exactly Maurice! At least the fellow who sold it can buy a new one! Scratch free! Ironic that it would cost less to buy a pretty good projector, out of box for the cost of one 600ft print.

Well I hope the seller does not charge them more than the new price, or a bit under that really.

The new price would be a bit high, as its got marks etc.

It would be very unfair to the buyer, especially if the seller knows its available new.

It shows with more info getting out there is a bigger market than we maybe think ?

Was reading this after filming Blackpool Illuminations in S8 Scope...as you do.

Winning bid wasnt that far off two new prints really but I do hope both are happy and the seller doesnt get landed with the cost of a return if buyer unhappy. You know how it goes now.

A really positive to be taken from this is our David will at least see the demand for his releases and that can only be a tremendous boost of confidence for his and others efforts today. Didn't I say these would be highly collectable in the future somewhere 🥳 Film is so magical and to project a moving image on a mechanical projector as when it first started is really quite marvelous.

Hats off to David and of course Steve O for the new prints.

I finally got my two new super films yesterday prints (the customs hold them a while) but will only be able to project them tomorrow (my GS is at my "other" home). I cannot wait.

I`d be interested to know if the seller bought it from a US official seller if you will, either David or Steve.

Rather than " Imported " ( with the rarity that suggests ) it themselves, or someone else ?

But the price does show there is an un tapped market that could make super 8 reelases go very well.

David`s next one surely will be a winner. Great film.

Were the prints made in Germany? If so they might be saying "Imported" because of that.

                        Well yes but !!! ahem.

I`d of preffered to see a note on there saying its avaiblabe new etc.

Also good to spread the word.

A buy it now a little below the new price might have been fairer really.

Sadly with the prices being pushed up the hobby will only have the older obsessives on board ( myself included there ).

                        Best Mark.

Said it before but the new S8 of JP is a beauty of a release and also sits nicely with my other Reel Image new prints on the new Polyester film stock.
Worth starting saving up for most certainly and expect more new releases and prints in 2021.

Thank you Dave and SteveO for making the magic happen! Those of us who do support the new releases and buy them are enjoying the quality very much indeed.

Well the message needs to be got out there better. To get a superb quality S8 release like this is something special.

Maybe we can help Classic get the word and prints out in the UK and the EU more. Though maybe a little late here EU wise.

What David and Steve are doing with 8mm in 2020 is incredible, and with even more great things on the way the hobby is very lucky.

Sadly we won`t be getting one has as family car garage bills in the last 3 months add up to over £1400, just been one of those runs, and more to do yet as well.

Maybe the forum can get get a sort of publicity effort allround to get the news of Davids releases out there more. And Steves and CHC too.

                              Best Mark.

The best thing actually is simply to place an order, pay (not just discuss endlessly) and then enjoy the product for years to come. The saying goes "You'll be appreciating the quality long after you have forgotten the cost." Less faffing about, less discussing, less excuse-making and simply buy!
