This news is even sadder for me as it is news of yet another fellow old time traditional film cinema projectionist that has changed over to the great projection box in the sky .
It appears there are less and less of us every year .

Such sad news, which since Jane's original post we have all been dreading.
In the relatively short time I have been a member of these forums, it was obvious that Maurice's experience and expertise was beyond extensive.
He always came across as someone I would loved to have shared a few hours with and am envious of all those who knew him better.
I hope his family can take some comfort in knowing how much love and respect we all had for him.Last edited by David Strelitz; September 10, 2023, 10:29 AM.

Here, Here ! David
May I add my own condolences to Jane and her family.
This is truly a sad sad event for both them and the cinema fraternity.
Maurice takes with him an encyclopedic wealth of knowledge up to our other late colleagues in that cinema in the sky ! But, oh boy, what fun they are going to have !
Just a small suggestion. Due to the mass of information Maurice gave us over the years, and to save everybody trying to scrawl through the archives to read his messages, May I suggest that a "closed" topic of all Maurice's contributions be created on the main menu of the forum? Sorry, Doug, this would mean a lot of work for you, I realize.

Melvin,
That's an admirable suggestion. However, Maurice joined the Grand Old Forum in 2007. He had close to 6000 posts there and over 2200 on this site, concerning a variety of topics and in a number of different sub forums. The old site's posts cannot be transferred over, plus that site's "search by member" function would list just a few hundred of a member's most recent posts, as opposed to the more exhaustive search that can be done by topic or keyword.
Our Index of Technical Topics contains a variety of Maurice's contributions. I would suggest when someone comes across a topic that should be added, please post the link in that thread and I will add it to the index.
