You'd be made very welcome Bill.Over the years I've thinned out
quite a lot, there are some titles I've regreted selling, but you can't
keep everything, although why I parted company with my scope
PINK FLOYD -THE WALL, God alone knows.

Well my collection has changed somewhat over the many years of collecting 35 years and still counting.

It's been a slow progression which has been uplifting and sometimes hard to decide on.

Getting rid of the 1000 + cut down and mini features on Super 8. Keeping the full length features worth keeping that you will never find in any other format that have not faded.

Upgrading my 16mm prints to 35mm prints and I have to say I have had no regrets as I have recently found quiet a few titles to replace which have been exceptional. When watching a 35mm print there is really no comparison. it’s something I enjoy over all formats as it is the best with out a doubt, just ask John Clancy.

Thou like everyone Super 8 holds a lot of fond childhood memories for all of us. So I guess this is the reason why this format is still popular even today with collectors as we still like to hang onto and cherish .

I have currently just finished building a purposely built film vault that is filled with both Super 8, 16mm & 35mm prints to many that my next task is to catalogue all of them.

So far i have around over 100 35mm features, 500 16mm features and around 50 Super 8 features. Not including the vast TV shows and documentaries and cartoon and shorts.

warrant that lot pales against what some of the folks on here
have, Robert has a fine collection by the sound of it.

@Laksmi, I like the photos of your collection. I think we have a similar taste of film.
Do you like Batman (Adam West) and Green Hornet (Van Williams and Bruce Lee)?
And how about old Serials like Captain Marvel, Rocket Men, Spy Smasher etc.?

@Robert, very nice 35mm collection. Finaly I got also a 35mm IB print of Blue Hawaii. I was very envious of you, as you posted screenshots few years ago here.

I thought I would take a pic of part of the collection since I keep the smallest gauge films at home...The 16mm is spread around town at the different archives (a benefit of working as an archivist)..This pic shows some of the 9.5 on the bottom 2 shelves and Super 8 on top 2....OK OK maybe not the neatest the closet has ever been...

It's time to update the list of my movies with my purchases during 2013.

Super 8

Only bought two films this year, both features:

My Man Godfrey
The Riddle of the Sands - Scope

On 16MM I have been more prolific, no less than 16 features.

Shorts:
Der Fuehrers Face
Education For Death
Why People Have Special Jobs - Swedish sound

Features:
Arrivederci, Baby! - Scope, Technicolor
Foul Play
Gambit - Scope, Technicolor
Gorky Park
Lost Horizon
Meteor - Scope
Operation Petticoat - Norwegian subtitles
Puppet on A Chain
Target - Norwegian subtitles
The Best Years of Our Lives
The Hostage Tower
The Man From Hong Kong - Scope
The Notorious Landlady
The Secret Ways
Under Fire
War and Peace

It will be interesting one year from now to see what 2014 has added to my collection.

And once again, this post was buried really deep, at page 45.

I only ("only"?) have about 300. The odd part of that is I've gotten about 90% of these since the year 2000, when I thought I was done collecting films!

The difference between the 10% and the 90% is interesting too: the 10% has no sound, no 'scope, no features, no animation and nothing on a reel larger than 400 feet.

-all of which may explain why I thought I was done collecting films.

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

I do the count, not titles as it's too many
Super 8/Regular 8 - 801 + 20 (home videos and porn I really don't count) and plus some I have not registered yet (20+ extra)
9.5 - 4
16mm - 173 (and some 10-15 titles not registered)
35mm - 41 (trailers and shorts)
35mm features - 19 (maybe 5-6 more not yet checked)

Rounded 1000 titles in two years and a couple of months

I have 20 16mm features and about 60 16mm shorts and TV shows, plus 9 Super 8 features and about 50 digests. I really want to get rid of some of my film (especially the 16mm due to the excessive space it takes up). After seeing all these massive collections, I feel a bit of relief. You folks have some amazing stuff and it was a pleasure to see what was available out there. One of the many great things about Super 8 is that an average feature will fit into a case designed to hold one half hour 16mm reel. For me, 2015 will see a decrease of 16mm (and maybe a few more of S8).
