Hi from Greece. Nice to be here. I have already read many threads and I feel the atmosphere friendly.

About my past [?], owner of a Canon silent camera and a Canon sound 1000 projector, in my youth, [50 years old now]. The projector, after a trial to change belts recently [yes, I know, I have a big idea about myself [Smile] ], does not work. No one in my country could do the job, the last specialist closed his business, if I remember well, before 2-3 years.

So, I love silent movies [but I want a stereo machine] and I want to wake up my old film love buying a new projector, reading around in this rich / informative forum I decided to search for an eumig s938 or a bauer t610. I don't know anything about prices , I don' t know anything about reliable sellers in Europe. I've searched for information here but I didn't find anything, maybe two lists, one with range prices per model and another with reliable sellers, could be very helpful for the newbies [ a third one for film prices [Smile] ]

Anyway, I search for a good working projector, any suggestions/ information about shops, ebay sellers in Europe and prices would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance [sorry for my poor English]

Dimitris

P.S. A present ... (very interesting)... Wim Wenders - Room 666 (1982)

If you are looking for a Eumig or a Bauer I suggest you visit German eBay. It always has plenty on offer.

Kalhmera Dhmhtrh,

welcome aboard!
I suggest eBay Germany for the type of projectors you're after;in Athens there's very little stuff-at least that I know of,if other members can help?- & quite expensive-unless you're extremely lucky!

happy film shows! [Smile]

Welcome Dimitris!

I had that Canon projector too. Its a nice machine, but one of the hardest to repair [Confused] .

I'm sure you will find a projector. Don't be too fast to pay BIG dollars for one, as bargains do usually come for the patient collector.

James.

Just watched a few mins of the video, error stating Television was born in the USA, it was invented by John Logie Baird who had a flat in Hastings, Sussex, where he did all his experiments. One of his first live models was Noelle Gordon who went on to achieve fame in the TV series Crossroads.

Robert, thank you, from now on I know that tv is a Scottish invention John Logie Baird

James, I' ll follow your advice having in mind that life is short [Smile]

Yani kalhspera...

Yanis and Maurice I already search the German ebay , there is an Austrian seller who refurbishes old stock, I read that he is reliable [your opinion ? super8film.at] , he offers right now on ebay an eumig s938 for 200€ and a bauer t610 in his eshop for 300€. Are these offers good or I have to wait for a better offer? My experience in photo camera film market makes me accept a plus on the price buying for a seller that guaranties operation and mechanisms instead of taking a risk getting a lemon for a bargain price [don't forget that in Greece there is no expert in servicing super 8], but I don't know what is the base/right price [the price historic list is not big] and how much an accepted and fair plus on the base price could be...

So, the seller is ok and his prices are pretty good. Thank you Maurice for the reply.

Between the 2 models [ s938/ t610] which one is easier on service [changing belts for example], I would appreciate this piece of information...in Greece is very important because we don't have a John White [Smile]

My engineer does my servicing so I do not know about the belts. I have bought from a German eBay seller who services his projectors before selling, such as lubrication, new belts. He gives a 12-month guarantee. He is not cheap! You can send emails in English. Here is his site:-

I have a Bauer T510. A very nice and quiet running projector. It also lives in its black fitted carrying case. A worthwhile investment. Good hunting.

Your new Bauer T610 sounds an excellent buy.
A tip. Always "lubricate" the various amplifier sliders before use by gently sliding them backwards and forwards a few times. They may cause crackle on the sound when left without use.

Good news indeed Dominique, the hunting was successfully ended.

Maurice thank you very much for the tip. [Wink]

I have read in the forum about the English version of T610 manual. There is somewhere out there... Is it uploaded in the forum? If yes, could you give the link?

If not, I would appreciated it if a member, who has it, could help me.

I have already downloaded the German version but I can't understand any word [except some English words..stop, start etc.. [Smile] ]

My Bauer T510 only came with a German manual. I have been unable to find an English copy, or one for a T610 which is a very similar projector.
You may be interested to know that Oldtimer Cameras have a repair manual available in English for the T610.

Alan Rik posted this month.
If you are reading this, Alan, are you still able to supply copies in English of the Bauer T610 operating manual?
