Edwin, I probably have one of the film inlet chutes with the black roller mounted on a spring lever: I guess that's the part mentioned here, albeit I had to remove it from a series 1 GS; I do not know if S1 may or may not have this upgraded type of film inlet guide as standard, I believe the person who refurbished this specific machine fitted this one taken from later version. But in my opinion this film guide is more prone to fil scratching than ever: in fact once the side railings the film rests on while travelling through this part, are worn out, the base side will come in contact with a sort of rib placed right in between the sprocket and the image areas. This will produce a continuous line on the far left side on the screen which, depending on how well centered the image is as opposed to the film aperture, might even not show on all machines. But it's there. I really can't find a reason to have that rib in that place, as if to sever - so to speak - the sprocket teeth area from the rest. In fact I guess if a file out that rib on my inlet guide, I'll be still able to use it without problems. Let me know if it can be of use to you, first.

Steven, you are correct about the torque micro switch, but I find a lot of my customers want everything to work, the mark one guide can be fitted without the switch, and the metal roller WILL fit the mk1 guide, so if you are not bothered about removing things it will be fine, as you say it will work, I have no knowledge of 3D printers, but if it is straightforward to copy a mark 2 guide why not have both, then everything can be left without removing anything.
