Often the best celebrity names are the ones they don't use.

Cary Grant: Archibald Leach
Judy Garland: Frances Gumm
Albert Brooks: Albert Einstein

I mean: wouldn't you rather be called "Cary Grant"?

I feel the name Buster Crabbe did not well represent the good looks of the man.

Not an actor, but why would anybody ever choose "Engelbert Humperdinck" as a stage name?

Is "Arnold George Dorsey" really that bad? (Could they maybe work with it a little?)

Wikipedia describes "Engelbert Humperdinck" as being a "more arresting" name. I agree, If I woke up one morning and found out that was my real name I'd certainly want somebody to be put under arrest!

I guess Red Skelton's name wasn't too unusual...but I did like the name of his character ... Clem Kadiddlehopper.

What do you call a man with a wooden 'ead - Edward
What do you call a man with two wooden 'eads - Edward Wood
What do you call a man with three wooden 'eads - Edward Woodward
Stupid, but funny!,, ( well the kids think so)

If any celebrity ever born should have had a stage name it's Cloris Leachman.

-it sounds like some kind of industrial laundry detergent! (Even now I'm imagining it stenciled on a 55 gallon drum.)

If she'd married Cary Grant she could have been Cloris Leachman Leach!
