Hi Vidar, This is what I use with my CIR standard 8 splicer. It covers two frames almost exactly with care. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/film-editing/joining-repair-tape.html Last time I bought a 50 pack because I do a lot of splicing in my transfer business.

I have to transfer 8 & super 8 to cd. back in the day he worked for the press. needless to say I am so glad I purchased a cd/dvd recorder each dvd iscan record up to 30 min.

For 8mm -- you can always invest in a Leo Catozzo guillotine splicer for 16mm and fold over the tape. Those are the best splicers on the market, always have been.
