Here are a few photo's of our recent convention.
 -
The venue, was held at the New Brighton fire station a busy place at times one of the local organizer's belongs to the fire service.
 -
just arriving on the Saturday morning it started on Friday evening and went through till Sunday night.
 -
The $2 table "just kidding" however there was so much stuff that the auction was held ever two days this photo only shows a small part of it and was taken on the Saturday morning the previous night the first 50 lots were auctioned one such film I picked up was a Kempski print of "West Side Story" on Elmo 800ft reels for $20
 -
Just part of the weekend programme was a visit to the "Antarctic Centre" which included a large screen High Definition audiovisual experience and an amazing ride on the Hagglund "thats it in the photo" believe me... you dont want to have just had your breakfast...this thing really throws you around on the assault course round the back of the building, great fun though.
 -
yes folks its the 8mm forum members here at the centre Pat on the left myself and Trevor still feeling a big jaded after that "lets throw them around Hagglund ride".
More photo's to follow of home cinema visits etc "as my limit is five to this one posting"

I got myself some super 8 films one of best buys for me over the weekend was THE TOWERING INFERNO 3x400ft for $15, THE WARRIORS feature in scope for $20 and HELLS ANGLES feature brand new! for $60.
I also got some 16mm shorts all ex NZ transport board, mostly films like telling kids how to cross the road but for $10 for 5 films I can't complain! and the quality of them is great!

The most exciting part of the weekend was Graham and myseld being thrown around in the back of this Hagglund snow machine! luckly no pics were taken as we were flying around on our backsides for most of the ride I think!

Hi Dan
There was a lot of 16mm short films on all matter of subjects sold off in bundle's, all the films and projection equipment sold over the two days, Super8 was very cheap, boxes of splices plus 16mm and 35mm CIR tape splicers all kinds of stuff the remote control for a GS1200 went for $5 the chap that ran the auction was really good, no scratching your head here unless you wanted to buy something, cant recall much in DVD or video mostly film related stuff B/H projectors like the 642 went for under $50 myself I picked up a Eumig P8 still in its original box complete with take up spool etc, ran some Standard 8 film through it today "runs really good" that cost $15 so there was something there for everyone plus a lot of good humour thrown in as well.
 -
a very small part of the auction
 -
Forget more DVD at those conventions in England this is what you.... "NEED"... to get your numbers up... "BOOZE"... yes folks we had our own specially bottled and labeled.
 -
Sunday afternoon visit to this amazing home cinema of Ian and Bev Fisher the cinema is the building at the back of the house.
 -
The projection room with Trevor and Ian note the black exhaust pipe from the 16mm projector.
 -
his absolutely mint condition Ernemann 35mm projector

We finished the weekend at another home cinema with a Sunday BBQ and more films, the Saturday evening meal was also really good, took the camera along but was to busy yacking so didn't get any photo's.

Graham.

Hi there ,
This is my first post as I am new to this forum . If only I had got here sooner , I would have known about the Chch convention ( as I am living in New Zealand) but darn it I'm a little too late.
Oh well.
Just like to say I was happy to find this site and hope to get to know some of the folks here over time .(You have been helpful already without you even knowing it - by the way).

Thank you
