Hi all,

Time moves so fast. It has been 4 years in Toronto and time to go home now.

I updated in this forum about my moving in to Toronto in this topic: Update, I am in Toronto

I arrived in Toronto without anything films related items as I wrote in the above post:

quote:
unfortunately I didn't bring anything with my 8mm films, just too heavy. I closed my dedicated home theater before leaving Indonesia and packed them up into boxes
But a litle by litle I built up a small collection, started from the nasty Chinon 330MV. FYI, even for this projector, I did not have a take up reel so two members here, Dino and Terry offered me 600' reel in this topic: My first projector, but no film!

Having lived in the Northern America, it was not satisfying enough If I could not find the best projector in the collectors' world, i.e Elmo GS series. So I kept hunting in local market, until I found a nice GS-800 for an affordable (in fact cheap) in Canada in this topic: My lucky find, Elmo GS-800

But still this GS-800 was not the ultimate projector in my mind, therefore I kept hunting for a GS-1200, and amazingly I found 2 projectors. One was OK price (half than the normal price, due to the fact it was listed under video category ) and the second one was from North Carolina listed in the Craiglist for a price that no one could imagine.

In terms of films, I built up my collection through Ebay due to the fact there was almost no film found in Canada.

However the first collection was in fact from Gian a member from Italy who was so kind to donate some of his unwated films to me in 2010 when I was not with films.

Then the best deal that I ever got was when I was waiting for my large order, ton of films I purchased from a member here (thanks Frank) that include the ultimate, Star Wars and King Kong.

The second largest lot was when my wife bought for me just a week ago, while the third largest was when Trevor Adams (also a member here) gave up his collection and offered all his super 8mm films for NZ$20/feature (ps: many members here were not aware that NZ$20 = US$16....so it was actually even cheaper).

So my collection getting bigger and bigger, and now, it is the time for packing them up heading for Indonesia.

So after 4 years, here what I am going to bring home. They are boxed already:

A. those 200' include TJ, Woody, Disney, etc

 -

B. those 400' include Bick Rogers episodes, Once upon time, etc

 -

C. those Full features include my holly grail Star Wars, King Kong, Disneys, L&H, French Connection, 007 James Bond, etc

 -

Next Monday they will be going into 20' container heading to Jakarta.

From the equipment sides, I will be taking home:

2 GS-800
2 GS-1200
2 ST-1200HD
2 GOKO Editor
and of course my first Chinon 330 MV (will be used for an outdoor not so-important-show or kids toy) and
1 Minolta 7100 (already converted as rewinder only)

But last not least, I am taking these My new toys....vintage items (TV, Radio, etc) too [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

So Jakarta, here I come.

Bye for now!

Winbert -

I haven't known you long but we've corresponded a good deal via email over the last couple of weeks.

Take good care of yourself and be sure to check into 8mm Forum when you can.

Best,

Hey Winbert

I would say your 8mm luck in Canada was quite good! Do you have the room back home for all this!?!

Anyway, it was great to meet you and your family and I wish you a safe and stress free trip back.

Cheers
Terry

Hi all,

Thanks for all your best wishes.

Those films from Canada will soon get reunited with their cousins, nices, grandpas, grandmas, uncle, aunthy, friends, etc in Indonesia.

Here some of their relatives:

 -

They will be homed in a nice dedicated theatre, so no longer stay on basement and played in a converted living room.... [Wink]

This is my dedicated theatre back home in Indonesia that has been long forgotten due to my work in Canada. It can be quickly converted as a mini discotheque as I am also a music lover.

 -

And now a bit narcism of me taken just before I was leaving Indonesia for Canada.

 -

cheers,

Hi Trev, thanks.

And again thanks for the films you sold to me. Half of them have gone overseas through Ebay and not only I can recoup my purchase for the whole transaction, but I still get another half (my film choices) and some margins [Razz]

As it is mentioned above, that was the second best transaction I ever had !
[Wink]

cheers,

Pat, I did mention it on my intitial post. [Big Grin]

Find it above, and if someone got Star Wars (F/L) and King Kong (F/L) plust tons of unusual cartoons for that price, then that is the best deal ever.

Pat, I read on different thread about your situation. My deepest symphaty and please do not totally give up your films collecting habit. You are an asset to this forum.

cheers,
