Hi.
It's the Derann full length feature put in two 1200 feet reels.
Or so it seems...
Regards.

That reminds me probably one of the rarest STAR WARS films, a very rare 3X400ft scope "digest" of "Return of the Jedi" It consisted of reel one and the last two reels of the film. The color or sharpness wasn't as good as the Derann print, but it's certainly a rare scope piece of STAR WARS history.

I think someone on this forum has a print of that lying around somewhere.

Would an Elmo ST-1200 M O projector be able to play this film with full sound?

As far as I'm aware, this version only reads one magnetic sound strip (or optical sound). I've never played any film with sound, so I'm quite new to this and I'm not entirely sure how the sound system works, apart from there being two magnetic strips on either side of the film.

The 1200MO will play one magnetic track. So it will be mono. I have the same projector.

Ah right, I thought that would be the case.

I'm guessing the sound wouldn't be as good as if it was played on a projector that read both sound strips then? Like an Elmo ST-1200 D M?

Hello Chris,

The Elmo ST-1200 D DOES NOT play both tracks, it will only play the main track - The ST-1200 D is not a 2-track machine like the ST-1200 HD M

Whoever wins Part 1 won't be happy of someone outbids them on Part 2, however unlikely that may be!

Adrian has an excellent point there, I am never a fan of individuals who sell complete features in separate reels/ parts, unless of course, the feature is incomplete to begin with.

Those listings confuse the heck out me and I am trying my absolute best to understand them.

The seller writes to following in the description:

"However, as mentioned in the "item condition" description I have neither the skill or knowledge to have run the film to check it"

Yet...

The seller is an active member of this film collector's forum since 2011, and his profile lists FILM as one of his topics of interest!!! [Confused] [Confused] [Confused]

What am I missing? [Confused]

Sold for £736 all together... Wow.

It seems they went to seperate bidders too, surely if you hadn't won the first one, you wouldn't go for the second one?

Odd.

That's a lot of money for an incomplete feature, especially this
one, that does turn up quite often. There's going to be some sensitive negotiation between the two parties to get the other part, I hope it wasn't done out of spite to stop someone getting the whole film and there will be a successful outcome. Star wars
has certainly been a good investment for those deciding to sell it at a later date, don't think any have gone unsold, it just the price is all over the place, that's Ebay auctions when the bidding goes mad.

The part one was won by l***g (819) who did not bid on the second part .

So it seems to me, the winner of Part 1 only needs for part 1 only for certain reasons (e.g his part 1 is missing or has faded, has scratches, etc).

But I can also predict that the winner of Part 2, a***g ( 0 ), has a zero feedback is not a new member per se, but somebody who takes a risk by bidding both parts where if he loose in either part, he can just runaway.

So let's see if, part 2 will be re-listed in few days to come, my prediction is correct and bad for the seller... [Wink]

This is a risk to sell multi-reels film on several different listings that seller must have thought before.

Nigel, SW seems to have more of a following on 8 outside the UK hence ludicrous prices. Bide your time you will get a copy but fleabay may not be the best place to look. [Cool]

Nigel, the price will be vary depends on where you buy and at what condition. In Europe mainland it seems the price is cheaper than in the UK. In 2011 it was sold in Spain for €326 (£255). In the USA, it once sold for a $1000+ (£620). So I would say for today's price it will be between £450 - £750.

I myself got this title in the USA in 2012 for a very good price!

Good luck!
