I'm trying to work out how the Elmo serial numbers worked.
Most GS machines have a number in the 82-83xxxx range. I have seen some xenon machines with 88xxxx numbers.
What I would like is for as many people as possible to list their Elmo models with the serial numbers. GS's and ST1200, 600 etc welcome. What are the serial numbers on the xenons and even the Pcom GS's. I am starting to think that they used a serial number similar to car manufacuters and their VIN numbers. Ie 82-83xxxx = std GS and 88xxxx =xenon, 30xxxx = ST1200HD and so on. My ST1200HD is a 30xxxx number and my GS's are all in the 82xxxx range.
Lets have as many numbers as possible to see if a patern emerges.

I have two GS1200'S:

Version 1- forward facing loop restorer, black plastic roller at film input (at red arrow). Serial No. 826949

Version 3- rear facing loop restorer, with film path folded back below gate, metal roller at input with microswitch linkage, amplifier knobs are still dots (not lines). Serial No. 827737

Hi Paul,
"amplifier knobs are still dots (not lines)" Do you think someone has swapped the knobs at some time in it's life. I have never seen a ver 3 with dots on the knobs but I suppose there is a first for everything. Interesting that Elmo made those major cahnges in less than 800 machines. Must have a look at my numbers. With enough numbers we may be able to see where the changes took place.

Both my machines were bought off eBay so I have no idea of their history. I can say that the vers 3 model is in mint condition, and does'nt look like any work has ever been done on it. Possibly Elmo had some surplus knobs with dots which they decided to use up before using the ones with lines.

My GS1200 serial number is 828363 with rear facing loop lever and lines on controls. Motor dated 21 nov 1979.

BTW In what part of the world do you reside?
Starting to look as if all the std GS's are in that 82-83xxxx region. Come on guys there must be more ST's etc out there as well as GS's. Do keep the GS numbers coming as well though.
