What 16mm Films Did You See Last Night?

Easter Saturday family film show, tried out my old Elf which I have now converted to HID. We all watched Glenda Jackson and George Segal in the hilarious Touch of Class. It’s now 50 years old but still provides lots of laughs. My print is in Scope and unfortunately turning, but considering I bought it at the Blackpool auction from the late David Guest some years ago for £25 I’m not complaining. Everyone agreed that watching films with the projector purring away is a real treat and far better than the BOX !!

I bought at the last Ternat Film Fair 5 small spools numbered 1 to 6 (so one is obviousely missing) with the title Screen Souvenirs Paramount 1932. The seller said it was made of silent films clips. It appears that each part is independant (with opening and ending crédits), so I'm more than happy for that found. I have no idea how many parts were issued, I found the title on Wikipedia but there is no length. Each part starts alike so there is no way to identify the content without running the film.

Last night I watched Clark Gable in "It Happened One Night." My print is a bit on the soft side, but still good contrast.

I watched "Captain Newman, M.D." (1963) with Gregory Peck, Angie Dickinson,
Tony Curtis, and a terrific performance by Bobby Darin.

My 16-year-old grandson came over to spend the night. We decided to watch "Some Like It Hot" (1959). My print is on 2 - two thousand foot reels. Some occasional black lines on the sides but very watchable with good sound.

Looks a lovely sharp print Janice, a few lines here and there doesnt matter when you are watching a classic like that!! Glad you are educating your Grandson with proper celluloid, I am sure you both enjoyed it.

John Burgess Thanks. As much as my three grandsons prefer to watch digital movies in color... I am always amazed at how much they enjoy watching films with me and even the ones in black and white. True love.
