What 8mm films did I watch last night?

The Heat's On is from Columbia 8mm. Most of Columbia's releases were printed by Triangle Labs in the US. Mountain distributed much of Columbia's product in the UK, often with different box art.

The last of my CHC purchases Mae West, "The Heat's On". Nice sharp B&W print in a Mountain Box. It says "Print by Triangel" on the leader, does anyone have info about this lab?

Define "helping".....😉

Being one of those setting up the stillaging, day one. Putting 52 casks on it (with a mechanical cask lifter) with one person feeding me the casks. Putting cooling on them after setting up the coolers with 2 people assisting then venting them, day 2.P utting taps in 51, a colleage did the last one then tasting them to see which were reasy to sell, day 3. 3 days of selling, retasting those not ready and tilting them as they ran short (many helpers) and taking the casks down after we sold out, except for a little in two casks. Last day empty coolers of water, pack up everything to be collected, finish off any left in those last 2 casks, then go to the nearest pub for a beer or three.

I might be getting a little too old for this!

Last night the short "Rhubarb" from Derann with Harry Seccombe and Eric Sykes (who also wrote and directed it). Not exactly a non dialogue film but all anyone does is mutter "Rhubarb, rhubarb". A nice Buck labs print on Agfa stock bought at CHC at the May open day. Delayed viewing as I have been helping at a CAMRA beer festival all last week.

Thankfully I still have all my FFTC magazines and still worth a look through every so often. One Scope film I bought from its review was Pearl Harbor in Scope with a running time of 18 minutes. The print quality was excellent, the down side was the sound quality being not the best. I was never sure if it was the recording or the stripe itself. However in the Scope ratio it does look good on the screen. The FFTC review does give the print a A/A plus with sound being an A-A/B. I still screen it every so often as I do like watching Scope films. We did run the 35mm print at the cinema long ago, but never thought much about the film itself at the time. However the Super 8 Scope extract if you find one with a good soundtrack is well worth searching out, as with the Super8 trailer as well.

Just the Look at Life "the CInema Steps Out", purchsed earlier in the day from Phil's May CHC open day. I was too sleepy to wathc any others, but it was good to meet up with what must be "the usual suspects" at this event. All were Blackpool regulars! Here's to the August event there (First weekend in AUgust).

I bought an Elmo HiVi sion SC-18 projector at a flea market, here in Brussels, today. I got it for a fair price, but the sound is not working (which I knew before buying it as the machine was tested on the spot). The projector came with four 60m / 200ft silent Black and white versions of colour sound cartoons. I watched them as a test of the projector after transport to my living room. The quality of the picture on the built-in screen is good. I moved the voltage selector from 220v to 240v and the picture is still bright although the 100 watts lamp and the 1.3 lens. The cartoons are : Docs Last Stand, The Pup's Christmas, Man on the Flying Trapeze, and Bwana Magoo.

Yes, Osi Terrible situation I acquired two copies at the same time and both prints are of the the same quality. Looking for a 400ft Son of Frankenstein digest.
