  • Joker sorry not a Blu-Ray streamed 1080p Xgimi Horizon Ultra 4k projector 120 inch screen.Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Nero.
The dark story of Arthur Fleck, mental illness, lost his favourite job as a clown, failed stand up comedian, looking after his ill Mother, rejected by his Father, who happens to be Thomas Wayne father of Bruce Wayne. An outstanding performance by Joaquin Phoenix as he spirals ever downward and out of control.

Central Station is a excellent film, and well worth watching. Watched the other night using the Panasonic VP screen shots below are taken from that night.

        • I have watched All Is Lost a couple of times and enjoyed it. It got good reviews on IMDB. There is one review by an experienced sailor who titled his review "Disappointing for sailors - but still a great performance". I have done a bit of sailing, but still a rank amateur. You can read the expert's opinion here: https://www.imdb.com/review/rw289094..._=tturv_perm_4

          • I watched The Movie Man (2024). It is the most entertaining film about movie lovers I have seen. It is more about how far a film fanatic will go than it is a documentary about movies.

It is available in the US on the PBS streaming site (subscription required).

            • Ed,

I saw The Movie Man last year. Keith Stata, who runs the Highlands Cinemas in Kinmount, Ontario is a fascinating character. I agree with many of his views except for when it comes to cats. I believe he has over 50 of them.

                • Last night it was a return to 1981 when we went to the cinema long ago to watch "Arthur", I still regard ""Arthur" as one of the best films I have ever watched. The casting of Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli and John Gielgud was perfect, as with the theme music which we later bought as a 45 by Christopher Cross. There was a remake a few years back but I refuse to look at it. Only the 1981 Dudley Moore version for me. I never tire of watching it, its such a fun film I cant even think of the number of times I have seen it, never kept a count, but it must be heaps.

PS The trailer of "The Movie Man" looks good, I will have to keep an eye out for that one.

Gielgud certainly earned his Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar. His portrayal of Hobson was perfect; he was so charming while being sarcastic that one would thank him for insulting you.

Hobson: Thank you for a memorable afternoon, usually one must go to a bowling alley to meet a woman of your stature.
Arthur: What are you doing later tonight?
Linda: Oh, I have plans for tonight. What should I wear?
                    Hobson: Steal something casual.
Hobson: Thrilling to meet you, Gloria.
                    Gloria: Hi.
Hobson: Yes... You obviously have a wonderful economy with words, Gloria. I look forward to your next syllable with great eagerness.

                    • Ed, watch this actress at 2.09 into this scene standing at the table, my thought every time I watch this film, that she is genuinely finding it hard to keep it together and not to laugh.. Another scene I like a lot is when Lisa Minnelli talking to her dad when he says something along the line what does he do? nothing she replies... oh! another one....he is a millionare....his reply quickly.....you have my permission to marry him a brilliant all round cast

                        • Had a visitor today, our grandson and to my surprise tonight he wanted to watch a movie in our little home cinema, Its really been a while now since the last time he stayed over, he also asked for a war movie, OK I thought, will project 1917, well that one was certainly a hit, an excellent transfer onto blu-ray. If you have never seen 1917 do take the time to watch it, I would certainly recommend it .

                          • A couple of other movies on blu-ray I have watched this week

"Planet Of The Apes" 1968 is one I re-visit every so often, likewise with "The Flight Of The Phoenix" 1965, both picture and sound is really good. With the blu-ray of "Smitty" this one came from a video library that was shutting down. I had never heard of it before, but with Peter Fonda leading the cast that got me interested. If you just feel like watching a nice family film then "Smitty" is one I certainly recommend. Its just a nice film with a good overall cast I will throw in the trailer at the bottom
