There's a 16mm Empire Strikes Back up right now, it'll be interesting to see what happens to that.
How about this:
Bob lives in Secaucus, New Jersey with his Mom. He has a lot of Sci-Fi stuff he's accumulated to fill the emotional void left when his Fiancé Julie dumped him for a guy who is entirely without memorabilia. He got a new credit card in the mail last week with a $5,000 credit limit. He saw this film and had to have it. The Klingon Bat'leth signed by Michael Dorn didn't make him feel better, but he knows for certain this will do it.
George is George Lucas. He looked at the auction and reached the conclusion this faded print is no threat to his franchise and instead spent $25,000 on a first season "Star Trek the Next Generation" command uniform. He'll spend another $40,000 for Madame Tussaud's to make a wax Patrick Stewart to go in the uniform. The result will go in a secret room in his warehouse only HE knows about!
Harrison is Harrison Ford. He thinks Bob is George and keeps chipping the bids up 50 bucks at a time just for laughs. At $3770 he grew bored and decided to take a walk on the beach instead. The next time he sees George he'll give him a big grin and George will have no idea what it's all about.
Bob won the film. It won't fill his emotional void, he'll have to take a second job pushing a mop around Denny's to pay for it, and his Mom is really angry at him.
-but last night an original BattleStar Galactica costume popped up on EBay in HIS SIZE.
-Surely THIS will make everything right!

What interests me is the only 'private' bidder in the whole list (u***u), who came in right at the last, but was beat out by winner, barely. Someone with an ebay knowledge to bid as such, and also privately is someone who knows ebay more than the casual user. I am interested in why this potential buyer wanted the print at such a cost. Most people with some money invested into something like this do not wish to watch it diminish further on a reel. my guess is they will flip it during the 'hype' which i don't believe has peaked yet. The time-stamps on the bid history suggests that the winners final bid was put in 2 hours before u***u's bid. This means that the winner had it set to automatically bid, at who knows what ceiling?! Craziness. Cheers, Matt

I forgot to comment on something that Jack said almost at the start of these posts. The original 1977 version of STAR is rather rare, as most prints are re-issues of STAR WARS, after some tinkering with the color and such by Lucas, (for instance the Derann super 8 scope print, while awesome, is from a re-release version from about 1982, if memory serves me correct), so, to find an actual 1977 version is not impossible, but certainly harder to find ...
.... but these kind of prices for faded prints? Rather embarrassing, it reminds me of that great line from the beginnings of TRUE GRIT (by the ever lovable Strother Martin) ...
"I wouldn't pay that for winged Pegasus!!"
