It somehow reminds me of those „Double Fairlie locomotives“.

Steve, that's very reminiscent of the Pushmi-Pullyu from Dr. Dolittle.

-something's telling me United Parcel Service isn't having a good day today. (-at least locally!)

Do you think they have a brown tow-truck somewhere?

Today, Well I have been looking forward to picking up this one for a while now, this week it happened da da spent this afternoon on it, nice Scope print, just about ready for the platter hoping to screen it very soon, starring Tim Allen and John Travolta, one of my favorite, and I should say, it was a very popular regular Saturday night screening at the cinema, we ran this one for almost 5 months, so I am over the moon to be able to project it once again on 35mm

Yesterday, Friday 29th, my wife and myself treated ourselves to a post Christmas / pre New Year treat and travelled on a steam hauled train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, just under 50 miles away from us, from Pickering to Whitby on the coast, and return. The locomotive was the Eric Treacy, an LMS class 5 built in Newcastle and entered service in October 1937.
The first 18 miles of the track is privately run, but the last 6 miles between Grosmont and Whitby is a regular service line and this locomotive was one of the very few steam engines that had the correct paperwork / credentials to enter the public section. Otherwise it would have been steam to Grosmont and diesel to Whitby. Not this time !

Its certainly been interesting the last few days down at Ferrymead, because of the hot summer weather I decided to install an extractor fan, a left over from my Movieland days, for the last few years its been sitting on top of the Bauer at home, so thought it would be of better use sucking up any warm air from the lamphouse, second thing I did was to install a couple of portable fans, plus wire up and fit a couple of lights I got from a second hand shop.

A group of school girls came through dressed in Victorian costume the other day, part of the education programme run by the park. The funny thing is, they landed up doing a detour to sitting on the Hoyts cinema seats and taking photos of each other. Those cinema seats seem to be a magnet to folk passing by, they all want to sit on them, forget about the Westar its the seats that are getting all the attention. I did say to the girls sorry no films today, one replied this is cool, I replied back thanks for that, and of they went

Well folks the latest flying news is this new service started this week, a direct non stop route from Christchurch to and from San Francisco by "United Airlines" by there 787 Dreamliner, Its amazing how fuel efficient those modern two engine aircraft have become, compared to past aircraft. When you think that the flying time from San Francisco to Christchurch is 13 hours and 5 minutes, that's one long haul flight across the Pacific.

United are flying that route three times a week, so hope its a success. I not a fan of long flights. I wonder if you can get up and walk around the cabin like the days of the 747 service. Anyway great to see more flights coming out this way

There's certain things that we do every year to get ready for the Christmas season.

-My wife set up the tree and decorated it
-My son and I stood out in the rain and strung the lights around the porch roof, got soaked but at least nobody plunged to their death!
(Not a lot of Joy of the Season that day!)
-Next week, I'll bring the trains upstairs and run them around the tree.

-but for today, 16mm came upstairs and joined the Main Theater!
(16mm audio is plugged into mixer channel #4: we are now at No Vacancies!)

Now, in theory, the Pageant will go back downstairs to Theater #2 (smaller screen, inadequate throw, no sound system) after New Years. I set this up for Christmas '21 and I DID take it down for New Year's....of 2023!

So I'm going to be more honest with myself this time and plan on maybe June! (-or so...)

Amazing photo taken by NASA two days ago of the South Island of New Zealand with the lower part of the North Island at the top of the photo.

PS Nearly forgot to mention Stewart Island right at the bottom
