It is actually standing on the transformer of the later model and because the projector is slide mounted on the amplifier it looks like the projector is the later model too. but you wouldn't think so to look at it and as you say, no speaker and no leads. Only fit for spares at a fraction of the asking price.

I have spoken to the seller on many occasions. Whilst offers are invited he would not accept mine.

Vlad the misspeller! He seems to always be trying to sell Horror and Sci-Fi films. Either this is because he collects something else entirely and wants rid of them, or he rates these so highly he can't bear to sell them, hence the high prices...

Can you believe the price this fetched! Lamphouse cover missing - no transformer - no speaker - no leads - untested! Either it is made of a precious metal or there is something I am missing [Eek!]

Perhaps the cats are watching the film! They look very interested in something.

Seeing this type of listing is a bit frustrating. I can spend two or 3 days putting together an eBay listing with photos and video and trying to get the description just right... and this guy posts a kitty picture unrelated to the item he's selling. Not that I am going to change anything I do, but ironically this guy probably sells more things than I do [Smile]

Every single item the seller is selling has this picture.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/codyj53/m.html?item=331670443881&hash=item4d39195769&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

This item is not an accurate description.
Clearly the cats are black and orange not black and white [Smile]
A colour print! [Smile]

What's kind of fun is if you open Matt's link and scroll it up and down, it almost looks like a piece of film!

@ Janice- I agree. I am the same way and this is one reason i hardly sell stuff these days...I dread the whole 'putting together' of the auction....I love watching people bid on my stuff once it is up, but the thrill has not been enough with all the work involved...
This seller has 100% feedback, so my guess is a very sincere person who loves cats, and like me, are tired/lazy of/with the whole process and figures they can sell by feedback, which I agree they can... I would have no issue buying from them myself...but in the meantime...we can have fun poking at the pics [Smile]

It's obviously designed for use in Japan, but what about in other countries?

It's the same projector I have, with the antenna. It is 100 volts machine, so you have to use a transformer. Postage to Belgium is 1.750 $ !

Yes.
And on top of the high postage, you might be liable for import V.A.T. @ 20% for the projector's cost and its postage, also to be included would be a further £8.00 Post Office handling fee.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Empire-Strikes-Back-1980-Super-8-400-COLOR-SOUND-/281804787596?hash=item419cdfcf8c

What a shambles of an auction.

This auction shows an 8mm blackhawk stolen jewels case, an alfred hitchcock summary, a 16mm saturday night fever description, all in order to buy a super 8mm empire strikes back. Holey Canary!
There are 3 auctions like this, all the same....

Here's an unusual 16mm machine, at least to me: Viewlex?? Never heard of that brand. Note the pushbutton/fader controls...

I have a great idea for a new website -- it matches up people who have projectors to sell on ebay but with no films to test them with, with people who have films to sell but with no projectors to test them with.

If that's a success, I will modify it to accommodate turntable sellers with record sellers.

And it will also have advice:

- don't call a film "tape"
- don't call them "reel to reel" -- that terminology is for reel to reel tape recorders
- nobody gives a hoot if the piece of tape that holds down the film end is original or not -- and it's probably not
- stop calling projectors "cadillacs" or "rolls royces", especially when they are no where near close to that
- films can be 8mm or 16mm, but not both, despite what it says on Castle film boxes
- if you're not sure, measure the width of the film
- showing a pic of the film on the reel tells me next to nothing
- HAVE BADGE WILL CHASE is not rare
- if your film is so rare, why do I see 5 other copies listed right now?
- if it smells of vinegar, throw it out!
- please put the name of the film in the auction title
- I really don't care if this used to be Cecil B. Demille's personal copy of the film
- if you're going to send the film in a pizza box, please have the decency to empty out the crumbs first
- if a projector plays single 8 and super 8, it is not a dual 8 machine unless it plays Standard 8, too
- some 8mm Bell and Howell filmo-sound machines weren't designed to play magnetic sound films -- don't ask!
- it's Super 8mm sound, not 8mm Super sound -- go ask Castle why
- Castle "complete" editions aren't the complete movies - again, go ask them!
- stop telling me that a 40 year old projector was never used, or that a 40 year old print was never viewed
- don't be cute with the wording -- "I" didn't notice any splices, this is the best print that "I've" ever seen of this title, "I've" only watched this once.
- oh yea -- Don't list a DVD or VHS tape in the film stock section!!!!

And of course the other old favourite....
"Print only shows light signs of use"
Which can, and usually does mean many different things, depending on who is grading!

Prove it, show us screenshots of the affected areas!!
