      The original Superman 1978 was available on Super 8 optical sound as an airline print. I know because I went to California
      in 1980 and it was shown on the plane. Incidentally, the earthquake scenes were being shown as we touched down heavily, which shook the plane and added to the drama. Very effective.

        In Germany, all films released by „Ullstein AV“ have been with Lichtton (optical sound). The majority of them have also been sold by „Foto Quelle“ (sometimes with a „Revue“-sticker on the box to cover the Ullstein-logo). You can find most of these films and some more Lichttonfilme (e.g. a „selected scenes“ of Lawrence of Arabia) in this list - simply search for „lt“:
