        • Evening Cruise

Last night we took a sunset cruise off our South Shore:

-a couple of hours cruising around Great South Bay and almost, but not quite out into the Atlantic: buffet dinner, open bar, snacks and music among friends.

          -some really nice scenery too!

The bridge on the Robert Moses Causeway across to Fire Island just after sunset.

We really need to do things like this in their proper time: Winter is even now on the way!

            • Last night I decided to dig out my old stereo camera rig which hasn't seen the light of day for over ten years, and to my surprise it jump back in to life.
This morning I drove up to the town of Boulogne on the north coast of France and visted Nausicaá the largest aquarium in Europe.
As I found out photographing fish underwater, in stereo is not as easy as it may sound. The flaming things keep moving around. I thought at one point the cameras autofocus was going to have a nervous breakdown trying to keep up.

I have tried to scale the stereo pairs so they can be viewed without to much eye strain.

                • A little day trip, slightly over 2 hours away from NYC.

The Ashokan Reservoir is in Ulster County, NY.

Then, a visit to nearby Woodstock.

Unfortunately, the Woodstock Film Festival is happening on the same set of dates as the next CineSea.

                  • Looks great, Doug!

When I was a little kid I spent many happy days camping with my family in that part of New York State.

We spent the weekend in Pittsburgh to celebrate a friend's wedding. Our hotel was right across the Allegheny River from PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team.

Friday night after it got dark, I got as close to the riverbank as I could and shot this picture: The Pirates have been joined by the San Francisco Giants for an evening game.

I'd like to dedicate this "Your Day in Pictures" to our favorite Giants Fan, Janice Glesser: doubly so since her team BEAT the Pirates 6-4!

                        • Well folks if you are getting tired of your heat Glentunnel here in the South Island. With a temp today of only 3 Degrees Centigrade and wind gusts coming down from the snow covered nearby mountains its was chilly today. Although Connor rugby team is officially finished for this winter, they did manage to get couple more games. Glentunnel is about an hours drive from the city, its a really nice little township. Afterwards they put on a nice feed for the kids, not the adults, although hot soup would have been great . Afterwards on our way home we stopped at a Cafe at a place called Darfield, very nice. One of Connor team mates and parents were already there getting a feed. The small home made mince pie they were eating looked great so we had one as well. All up, the weather just held up for the game. The nearby pass to Arthurs from Glentunnel is now closed due to snow.

One thing that was nice today, was the kids got together at the end of the game, and in the middle of the paddock sang happy birthday to there coach, so that was our out and about day, it was a good full day, really enjoyed it. I did ask his coach and assistant coach if there was a chance we could take a photo under the posts afterwards, he was more than happy, so myself and others took advantage of it. I took a couple below.

                            • Brilliant photos Steve, I forgot to add yesterdays location I had never been to Glentunnel before, it would be a nice place to live. Stopping at the Darfield bakery was not in the grand plan, but have since read that its a great stop for a quick bite. So folks if you come out here for a holiday Darfield and Glentunnel are worth a visit. Incidentally the above coaches don't get paid, usually have there own children on the team that they coach, without the parents help you wouldn't have any junior rugby. I was telling one parent yesterday, how my better half Yvonne years ago was ordered of the field when Steven played, telling the ref he needed glasses looking at Yvonne you would never think she was like that, but most New Zealanders are a bit loopy about the game.

South Island and have lived here ever since.
