Very interesting Stan, for all those who still hesitate to take the step towards hawkeye because of the price of the camera.
But is this camera interfaceable with hawkeye (trigger, capture software?). the model m12 mount looks good.
should we add a rasberry pi? How to integrate it in hawkey v12? Sorry, many more questions ...

Kamel, although it is possible to integrate the RASPI with this cam and I have done it before with different types of cams, it is awkward mechanically. I was more thinking of just using the arducam to test the sensor and then if it works go with the camera from e-con.
But yes, for people that are on tight budget, even arduino may work.
To further cut the costs, it may be possible to use the Wolverine controller but move it out of the way, add arduino camera with an interface board that intercepts the trigger and provides the camera mount and offsets the Wolverine controller mount. Would also need a longer power supply ribbon cable.
AH ! OK Stan,
In addition, I guess IC capture will not work with this type of camera (specific capture software with RASPI)
I just got (finally) the 16mm f5.6 aico lens. I can't seem to get the same quality as you on the smpte test.
What optical print do you use? my distance is 65mm from the film. my lens holder is 22mm. spacer 22mm.
should a certain distance be respected between the sensor and the rear of the lens?
what is the best setup to get the best sharpness?
you are more advanced than I on your experiences.

Good point regarding the sw Kamel.
Yes, my capture with 20mm spacer looks sharper. Looks like you are not fully in focus. That is the only thing I can think of unless the lens is defective.
The source code set it to on or off. We would have to dig into the API in order to be able to check what that does. Probably sets it to auto mode. Note that the camera also supports iHDR manual modes but I assume arducam team did not implement that yet. Could post a question for them. https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_O..._Camera_Module

This is the best I can get at the moment. not yet what I want.
indeed Stan, one has the impression that the focusing is not correct.
I will continue by adjusting my spacers and also the height of the lens holder.
My depth of field is limited ?!? should a certain distance be respected between the sensor and the rear of the lens?
Looks like you are cropping the image Kamel. With 22 mm spacers we should see a much larger area. Try using the original image. I used 20 mm spacers and my image is still sharp. Have not tried anything shorter so at this point we do not know what the minimum distance is. The spec for the lens is 0.2m and we are using it at much shorted distances.
Check my chart. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Rvw...ew?usp=sharing
Example:
For BUC02, if 20mm spacer used with 16mm lens, the distance from the sensor to the lens is b=40.77mm, lens to film a= 26.33.
Great Stan, I had missed your calculations shart and these setups.
that will help me a lot. Thank you so much.
I was thinking of spacers, it would be interesting to design a small sliding platform in height to make the focus more easily by micrometric screw.
I will think on this.
The image that you posted is 1200x900?
Can you set the camera resolution to 2048x1536 and use 20 mm spacers and then compare it against mine.
The focusing platform is an interesting idea but would have to be perfectly level on all 4 sides. Possibly some gearing mechanism. The scissor approach is not precise enough in my opinion.
Stan,
Your image is also in 1200x900 ?. It is in my opinion the conversion of the upload on the forum.
Yes, I am continuing my tests.
to solve the difficulty of focusing accurately with so little depth of field, I look at the microscope mechanism for inspiration.
To meditate for a 3d Design...

Hi i have already post this but i repost it again Here is from my diy scanner but i have a better lens Rodenstock APO_Rodagon D 75mm f4.0 it's original 1600x1200 but forum resize to 1200x900 something to compare
Here you have a one more compare with a cheap Schneider Componon-S 50mm lens about 50dollar on ebay
i have that lens to but it's not at sharp as Rodenstock APO_Rodagon D 75mm f4.0
Hello Mattias,
Wow, I would be happy to get the same result as you.
I am far from it. I thought the new 16mm f5.6 lens would be better and easier to focus,
but it's not easy to find the right distances.
Stan's advices and his calculations chart helps me a lot and I hope to do better.
I feel like I'm at the limit of the quality of this lens.
I will retest my old 12 and 16mm optics,
but they have a large aperture (F1,6) and therefore even more difficult to focus.
Here my best last test

Mattias, when I zoom in on your image I get pixelation. Is it to do with your lower rez or you did some sharpening on the image? https://photos.app.goo.gl/NeRj5RVf46cD8cbo7

Hi no i did not do any sharpen i did capture it in Y800 format and did use Gpu Debayer to get the color
i do remember that i did get sharper image when i did capture Y800 and use Gpu Debayer maybe it does some sharpen i do not know
my capture with RGB32 or RGB24 cameras own hardware debayer i do get more blur on the image
