Graham, thanks for your post on The Cruel Sea. I had completely forgotten about this one. I have added this title to my "coming soon" list!

I searched Youtube for a trailer, but did not find one. However, I did find this video, Greatest Ever War Films No. 24: The Cruel Sea (1953):

    • Your welcome Ed, here is a very interesting interview with actor Donald Sinden about his time making it.

      PS
I have been impressed with the quality of the Studiocanal UK blu-rays of late.

            • I quite enjoy TWINE from Brosnan's films! Goldeneye is still my favorite, but it's a lot of fun.

              • Picking up on Ed enclosed article on another topic, I did take some other screen shots of the blu-ray screening that night. Only mention on the back cover is Roadshow Entertainment nothing on it being a Warners Bros blu-ray release, although that's what I guess it will be.

See what you think of the following screen shots?

Graham, the above screen shots of The Neverending Story look sharper and brighter than your post comparing it to Super 8. I did find a 2010 version released by Roadshow Entertainment. Too many versions, and none of them got stellar reviews. The fans are waiting for the "Director's" version.

                    • Rewatching what I think is one of the best horror comedies ever made: ONE CUT OF THE DEAD! If you ever watch it, don't read much about it, it's best to watch blind.

                      • I sometimes wonder how many people might have made a career in the medical field after watching the 1966 "Fantastic Voyage"?, even by todays standard of special effects it still very good. So if you want to take a journey inside yourself, and see how things work, enjoy watching this blu-ray.

Excellent picture and sound, its great stuff from the 60s

                        • I spent Friday and Saturday night watching Star Wars Trilogy out again on Blu Ray. Superb print and sound is best I’ve heard. Region Free. Lucas and friends have enhanced/ changed all 3 movies. Return of the Jedi is actually improved with these actions particularly Jabba scenes. Purists will argue no doubt. Still have my original unchanged DVDs.Good price from Amazon £25.

                          • If you get the chance to watch "Passengers" on 3D its really worth it, however two nights ago I watched the 2D version, which although not as good as 3D its still very good. One of the things that is really striking in "Passengers", is the stunning detail given to the sets, either real or CGI. When I watched the end credits there was a huge list of names of folk who were involved in the computer work.

Anyway some screen shots, visually stunning blu-ray with excellent sound . its my cup of tea

                            • Last once again it was again a "JAWS" evening, I opted for DTS Digital surround 2:00 mono over the 5:1, to me its sounds better, it was just the blu-ray that came with the 4K box, excellent picture quality as with the sound. The night before it was the 40th Anniversary extended Japanese cut 148 minutes of "Tora Tora Tora" 1970 blu-ray. The restoration is really superb, as with the DTS HD 5:1 sounded great. I would highly recommend this one.

PS I still covered my eyes at the severed head bit, some thing will never change and that is one of them

                              • Excellent Graham. I had a play with the old S8 400ft film dubbing it into Stereo. The stripe was so good I sent it off to The Great Alberto now watchable again thank you Alberto.
The BR is a great watch.

Cinerama for us. How the west was one.

Watch for our special S8 import which I think may be the first Cinerama on 8....
