A few of my purchases from CHC earlier in the day.
The trailer to Quo Vardis (with ABC dayset "for one day only") Derann, Black Beauty (Mark Leicester) colour sound 200ft Walton and Taste the Blood of Dracula 400ft Derann. All good colour and condition.
I watched Mickey's Christmas Carol and The Neverending story, both purchased last Sunday from CHC. Both great colour but TNS has a little more wear than your copy Graham.
Glad you picked up those titles, they are good ones. The good people at Derann I think, did a great edit job on The Neverending Story. Also Mickey's Christmas Carol is a sunning colour print.
I agree Graham, very good edit. I especially liked how they had that whole explanation of what the nothing was, and is, as, judging by what we see in the world today, the nothing is alive and well. I screened my latest acquisition last night, a fairly rare Betty Boop, "Dizzy Ted Riding Hood", rare, in that, for some odd reason, it is one of the few Classic era Betty's that had never been included in any of the Blu-ray restorations.
Last night I was giving my original ST1200 a run with "The Three Caballeros" twice, the print quality was excellent, I never checked the film stock but the color still looks great
Found a previous screen shot
Last Night the last film I bought at the May CHC open day (Which I was keeping for nearer my birthday) Gremlins, Derann 2x600ft, Bushy Hare (Bugs Bunny) and The Turning Point 400ft. The last was mentioned in another post here which reminded me I had it. It has better colour than I expected for its age.
I really appreciate those shots from "The Neverending Story". In those other shots from the watched Blu-ray section, the "Oracle's" are a gold or bronze. I always remember them being a luminescent light blue. I was right. They were a luminescent blue. Wow, how the recolorists change our memories of our cherished films.
Your welcome Osi your comments made me have another look between the Super 8 and blu-ray and it certainly looks like they changed it.
Tonight it was once again the Marketing 3/400ft on one Elmo 800ft reel of "Airplane" now last week I watched, for the first time the DVD of this title and was surprised at the poor quality of it, but what finally killed it for me was the Bee Gees number Stayin Alive, on the DVD it sounded fast, like Alvin and the Chipmunks were singing it and not the Bee Gees. I checked this out on the internet and for some reason, the studio had speeded that number up by 10% for the DVD release.
So folks if you have the Marketing 3/400 its how it should be, hang onto your print, believe me the Bee Gees sound a lot better on this Super 8 release, when I watched it tonight I thought... mmmmm.... now that sounds better.
PS the color on the print still looks pretty good to
Just watched my new copy of "Gulliver's Travels" 1939. It's one of Derann's reprints, and the color is very good. LPP. Most prints of this are a top candidate for 'Red Print Theater"
