  • Halloween 2022

This is a few days late but I had a good night at the movies on 10/31.

    Showtime 7:00pm

    Cartoon Bottles
Trailers Superman II; Xanadu; Great Muppet Caper
    Feature 1 Wizard of Oz

    Intermission Reel
    Snack Bar Drive In Adds
    Cartoon 2 Ballot Box Bunny
Trailers Conan the Barbarian; ET Extra Terrestrial; Rolling Stones Let’s Spend the Night Together
Feature 2 Blue Ray DVD John Carpenter’s Halloween

    Show end 11:00pm

    Tidbits:

A night at the drive in theater. I ran non-stop from start to finish.
    Everything flawless.

    GS 1200 X 2. Panasonic AX200U . Marantz SR7011 Dolby Processor

    Wizard
of Oz: It’s perfectly normal for any young child to want to be one of the characters for trick or treating – when you’re at that very special care free young age!

    Ballot Box
Bunny: A perfect cartoon right before our mid-term elections.

Halloween: What better movie to watch on the night of trick or treating.

For the month of October, on Halloween night I end up with 13 movies shown. YIKES!

    • Some wonderful films being watched on here.

Mickeys Christmas Carol for us in a hotel room. The Eumig goes every where.

3/4 of Cinema in miniature 2 Super 8 production. Slowly coming together.... I edited the original Christmas eve and will be completing 2 on the same day. Guess that's why I like Christmas S8 films so much.

      • Back from a visit to my Son. I took the Eumig HID to show some of the films from his childhood. One not seen before Happy Coblers which I got silent, sound striped and dubbed. Once heard it keeps going thru your brain.
        Mickeys Christmas Carol never forgotten

        • Mickey's Christmas Carol is a very good print, exceptionally sharp and fortunately, in my opinion, full frame, instead of letterboxed.

            • Yesterday afternoon I sat down to watch / check a film I had just purchased on Ebay.

Pack Up Your Troubles - 3x 400' - Laurel and Hardy

It was the Walton version. Good print and sound quality. Just a few sporadic tramline scratches.
It is a well known fact that Walton prints tend to be slightly edited versions of the features (why, I don't know) and this became apparent when I came to the sequence which is also featured as a Walton 200' called "At The Front." I noticed that there had been some subtle editing done here and there and the last bit of the 200' with Ollie's posterior sticking out of the tank was cut back quite heavily. Still a good view, which goes into detail that now explains the background behind the 200' story.

              • I could list a few good reasons why I would watch THIS movie I chose tonight, but forum rules and regulations do not allow it. You'll have to read between the lines on this one. Let's just say it was a very good opportunity to watch the super eight feature of war games on November 7.......LOL

I really need to combine these titles onto a single reel. Switching 200-ft reels is a lot of work.

                    • Hi Janice great line up of shorts one of my early ones bought new when it was still Castle films before U8 was "Barber Of Seville" Its on Polyester stock and still looks good even after all those years.

Ever since the late 1970s I join most of my short films onto either 600ft or 800ft reels by cutting the heads and tails off, storing them with the original reel and box. In the past I used Agfa tape splicer, but these days its mostly the Wurker. I don't lose any frames as its a simple case of peeling the splice away and joining back up the leaders and ends as the original cuts were made with the same tape splicer.

I like to be able to sit back and watch larger reels of those shorts, I might be getting lazy these days, but I can't be bothered projecting one at a time. Years ago I was asked to put a number of away film shows on, so I would join a number of shorts onto 800ft reels with heads and tails removed, then check to see if the selection feels right and moving at the right pace that kind of thing, before heading away to do the screenings. It was worth the effort and always worked a treat

                      • I remember when they showed cartoons on the Saturday morning anarchic "children's" show (I believe it had a massive university student audience too) Tiswas they showed the countdown at the starts and all the children in the studio shouted out the numbers.
