I watched few of my home movies from the 1970's including one of my dad taking a friend from Nottingham round central London even up to the door of 10 Downing Street as you could in those days. Then the Andy Clyde 2 reeler "In the Doghouse".

First, a digest of the Silent film Wings. Then, the Film Office promo reel (with short clips of their releases ; colours are beautiful), four songs (two in French, one half French half English and one in English) performed by Petula Clark, Modeliing, a 1923 cartoon mixed with live action (there is a music score), Perils Of Paula, a silent film with a soundtrack ; I didn't find any informations about it. And finally, a German film of historical intererest.

Just a odd reel of the feature sadly but it does link in with my love of British norther comedian FrankRandle-Young Man of Music 1950

Railway Hijinks on the Isle of Wight:

Piccadilly Line to Shanklin: We ride the former London underground trains from Ryde Pier to Shanklin on the isle of Wight. The scenery is nice, the mood is calm: it's just a satisfying journey, well worth our fare!

Terrier to Wooton: We ride behind a restored 0-6-0 steam locomotive on the preserved railway of the Wight Locomotive Society, also on the Ilse of Wight. This one will always be special in my collection: it is the very last new print I bought from Derann. Piccadilly came later used from Paul Foster. I always remember taking Terrier out of the packaging: it was something like 250 feet on a 200 foot reel! (-maybe half an inch outside the flanges of that 200 foot reel and just begging to spill off!) I very quickly found a Geep 300 footer and very carefully set things right! The music is Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony: a railway film made to order for Fantasia fans!

These two are kind of special to me: They were both shot as part of a series and nine times in ten I project them together. They are amateur films, but speaking as an an amateur film maker I can say they are better than my own personal best so I tip my hat to them! They are wonderful short films obviously made with a great deal of affection for their subjects.

The third was Calgary Stampede: a very active look at the big Rodeo up in Calgary, Alberta. People were getting flung right and left huge distances from various large quadrupeds! Technically this one was 16mm, but it played quite nicely with Super-8, so we are going to let it join in!

Unfortunately I doubt if there will be an addition to the Isle of Wight films when, next year, they get new trains. District Line to Shanklin could have been the title for the class 484 stock now arriving there.
